A Debut of a Decade

While pursuing a degree in Visual Communications Georg experienced a sudden prolific burst of creativity (1994 and 1996) marking a phase of angst filled rebellion expressed in the surrealisms of The Crying Poet (1996), An Abduction of Abstractions (1996), Is There Anybody Out There I, II, III (1995), Release (1996), Reunion (1996) etc.

After college, Georg pursued free-lance careers in many fields of creativity as a professional event photographer, ad- film story-board artist, set designer, assistant art designer, theatre actor and commercial artist. During this time, The Flying Squad, The Dive Bombers, Butterflies I, II, III, Lust and Envy, Sleep (1999) emerged out of the chaos and into the moments of peace. This was followed by a reflective phase in oils with Lady of the Lake and Reflective Seduction (2000).

In 2004, Georg drew inspiration from Bangalore, and created Partridge, Peacock, Roadrunner, Owl etc. This period also ushered in a new phase for him, which consisted of a sharp geometrical. The paintings during that time consisted of, Planetary Gossip, Gravitational Womb, Rooms of Saturn, Eye of Osiris, The Missing Link etc… all created in the year 2005, and simultaneously contemplating a mystical and magical plane of thinking with, Kraaken, Komodo, The Horse Ritual and the Pearl of Equos (2005). The year also ushered in the merging and melding of the surreal emotional and physical dynamism of the five elements, Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Space.

Georg Wirsching, is an Indian artist of German descent and grandson of the late Josef Wirsching, founding cinematographer of "Bombay Talkies" remembered for movies like "Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai", "Mahal", Pakeezah" etc…

Georg Wirsching, with no formal training in art, has pursued this field with sheer talent and persistence and has experimented with different mediums right from acrylics, pen and ink on paper, oils and acrylics on canvas to multi media, while trying out different styles in Surrealism, Expressionism, Realism, and Mysticism in his works.

A Debut of a Decade, by Georg, will be on exhibit from 18th December to 21st December at Gallery G, Lavelle Road, Bangalore.
