RAHUL DRAVID started his cricketing career in 1996, but the seeds of it were sown a long time earlier. Always in control, Rahul Dravid is a perfectionist, and not the average glamour God everyone will identify with simply because there is much more to cricket for Rahul than a few endorsements and showmanship.

Rahul is a man who builds his innings consistently while keeping low profile. Most remember Rahul for his achievements like being the only Indian to take 100 catches in test cricket. What most don't know or have overseen is the resilience of a man and strength in character that has developed over the ages, which can put most so-called youth icons to shame. His consistency is well-known and so is his ability to not get overawed by the situation. Obviously, he is a contemporary icon that youngsters can learn from.

"The Nice Guy who finished First" a biography on Rahul Dravid, written by Devendra Prabhudesai, illustrates not only Rahul's cricketing career but what lies in between the lines, and more of all what makes a nice guy finish first. "Rahul is not only an icon but a good example for other cricketers and individuals who want to be inspired. Rahul is one who will not rest on his laurels, he goes on pursuing his goals and that makes him ideal for anyone to learn from," says Prabhudesai.

Writing a biography can be a tough cookie, and writing about someone who is constantly in the limelight and research for the book and have had to speak to a lot of people to make sure every aspect was covered," says the author.

"Rahul was sidelined a lot of times due to which he has had to struggle a lot. His achievements and hard work speak for him. He is a role model and someone who is down to earth, and I think if there should be a book written for someone then it's him," he adds.

There is magic in the wind, if one stops to read its message and learns to listens to the heart beating its own tune, there are the fruits of labour that will reveal themselves as one persists in working for what one is dreaming about and "The Nice Guy who Finished First" a biography on Rahul Dravid is a testament to that.
