How often have you heard someone say, "How's my hair looking?" Plenlty, right? No wonder then hair stylists and hair products get all our attention as they did at this hair show that was held at the Chancery Pavilion on Friday. Not only did the International team, that was here to introduce a premium UK hair brand, wow the audiences with their scissor hands. They kickstarted the event with a fashion show earlier.

Prasad Bidappa's choreography had Mumbai and Bangalore models like Amruta Patekar, Diandra Soares and Mughda Godse sashay down the ramp in Haute Couture. But the attention grabbers were the unique hairstyles they sported including Amy Winehouse's signature bouffant. And if you like current trend of bobs and fringes, they were a plenty. Page 3 regulars like theatreperson Rubi Chakarbarty and Manjul Gupta were seen enjoying the party that followed.

At the hair show the next afternoon, it was down to the serious business of the latest in hair-styling methods and techniques along with demonstrations by international hair artistes. Tony&Guy ace hairstylist Bill Watson, who was in the house, said, "We do not mind sharing In-House secrets with competitors. I know it's unusual , and people think its stupid. But we are not. We know that when we share we have another box we can pull out from." He had some useful tips to handout too. On the results of distressing hair and the benefits of cutting geometrically that is in angles, he said, "Distressing the hair is not as dangerous as it sounds. By distressing the hair the hair stylist means to give the hair more volume or zing, to make it more hip and happening."

"Hair is like fabric. You see the texture and the flow, and then determine what you can do with it to fit the client's look. Hair styling is like science and hair coloring like mathematics. While cutting hair is like geometry. It demands precision and we always cut in angles." He then adds a word of caution, "It's safer using branded and tested products for your hair instead of experimenting with something unknown and going bald."
