1. Stranger Than Fiction
Imagine your life being chronicled by a narrator only he can hear. Will Ferrell plays, Harold Crick, an IRS Agent whose world is turned upside-down by just this. The Narrator, Kay Eiffel (Emma Thompson), a nearly forgotten author of tragic novels, is struggling to complete her latest and best book. Fiction and reality collide as Harold hears the Narrator say that events have been set in motion that will lead to his imminent death.

2. Dreamgirls
Set in the turbulent early 1960s to mid-70s, Dreamgirls follows the rise of a trio of women (Hudson, Knowles and Rose) who have formed a promising girl group called The Dreamettes. This film is a treat for anyone who is a musical freak! If you have watched all the musicals on screen adaptations of Broadway productions, then this will not disappoint you. If you do not like song and dance, then you should stay away. The movie is also eyeing the Oscars this 2007.

3. The Death of Mr Lazarescu
Have you ever waited in an emergency room for immediate treatment, with no one to look after you? If there was ever such an occasion, you will empathise with the plight of Mr Lazarescu. A 60- ish widower, living alone in Bucharest with his cats, he feels sick enough one evening to call an ambulance. This is the beginning of his Dantesque odyssey deep into the bowels of a big city medical establishment.

4. Children of Men
Children of Men, one of the most popular movies of 2006, envisages a world one generation from now that has fallen into anarchy on the heels of an infertility defect in the population. The worldís youngest citizen has just died at 18, and humankind is facing the likelihood of its own extinction. Set against the backdrop of London, torn apart by violence and nationalistic sects, the film follows disillusioned bureaucrat Theo as he becomes an unlikely champion of Earthís survival.

5. Cars
This is a fast-paced animated comedy adventure set inside the world of cars. Fuelled with plenty of humour, action, heartfelt drama and amazing new technical feats, Cars is a high-octane delight for moviegoers of all ages.

6. United 93
Acclaimed filmmaker Paul Greengrass writes and directs an unflinching drama that tells the story of the passengers and crew, their families on the ground and the flight controllers who watched in dawning horror as United Flight 93 became the fourth hijacked plane on September 11, 2001.

7. Babel
In the remote sands of the Moroccan desert, a rifle shot rings out - detonating a chain of events that will link an American tourist coupleís frantic struggle to survive, two Moroccan boys involved in an accidental crime, a nanny illegally crossing into Mexico with two American children and a Japanese teen rebel whose father is sought by the police in Tokyo.

8. The Departed
This crime drama from director Martin Scorsese takes us into the lives of two cops: Colin Sullivan (Damon) whose prime target is powerful Irish mob boss Frank Costello (Nicholson). Billy Costigan (DiCaprio), street-smart and tough, eventually lands back on the rough streets of South Boston, where he is recruited into Costelloís ranks. As they work at cross-purposes, they are plunged into a dangerous game of cat and mouse in which the stakes could not be higher. This is for anyone who is a Scorsese fan.

9. Casino Royale
Published in 1953, Casino Royale was the first James Bond novel by Ian Fleming and has already been filmed two times before the 2006 release starring Daniel Craig. The film, introduces audiences to James Bond before he holds his license to kill and proceeds with a highstakes adventure.

10. The War Tapes
The War Tapes is a documentary directed by Deborah Scranton and a team of award-winning filmmakers. It is the first war movie filmed by soldiers themselves on the front lines in Iraq, in March 2004. It is interesting to see what soldiers can do with a bunch of digital video cameras in the middle of Iraq.
