Making Some WhiteNoiz

With Sam Thomas John, as the Drummer, Moncy Abraham on guitars and Godson Gigin on Bass Guitar coupled with Nobby and Liju; Whitenoiz is the latest band to hit the Bangalore Music scene. Sam Thomas John, Frontman and Manager of WhitenoiZ introduces White Metal to music lovers and updates us about the band:

What is the theory behind "WhiteNoiz"?

White noise is collection of frequencies which has no barriers. NoiZ is a representation of Noise, noiZ written the other way round reads Zion, Our destination!! We crossover to Metalcore, Hardcore and Rapcore Metal in our songs.

Your band was a result of a side project; what was the project about?

We were a bunch of kids who kicked of a Rock Band named Faith Warriors in 1999 while studying in schools/colleges. Concerts are mainly based in Camps/ colleges. WhitenoiZ kicked off in 2004 October, when three of us got together for a calling of the Extreme… They roped in Samuel Alexander on Drums; and Sam John took on as the Front man of WhitenoiZ. There has been no turning back since then. In fact we are growing stronger with the announcement of a new member, Bibin Bhakthan aka Bibz Mathaiz on Keys! Our album would be out by Summer 2008.

Any reasons for choosing "White Metal" as your style of music?

1. It makes us the First Band to play music of this genre in India. 2. We wanted to play music with positive and life generating lyrics with power. A real challenge for us was that while all bands had a cover of famous bands, we played originals. 3. We want the world to realize that it's not only in the West that White Metal can exist!

How did you guys put together your first single Crush?

It was a crazy evening; we wanted to try our minds on our first original. All of us took chances in putting the lyrics down. We spend five hours trying to figure out what we could do on the first part of the song. The next day we came together and put in the chorus which was framed, from my childhood, a fascination of "CRUSHING" the Devil imagination. I put in words and it was HOOK the world and the devil shakes to!!

Your song Deliver us from evil is going to be featured in an online gospel album…

“Deliver Us from Evil” was sent across as an entry to a Gospel Compilation. The panel selected our song, and before we knew it we were featured in Asia’s First Online Gospel Compilation! Besides that, we were selected for Enter-Exist-Exit Volume II as one among the seven best Upcoming Indian Rock/ Metal Artistes!

How do you take time out to make music?

Where there is a will, there is a way! There is no secret about the time; we keep ourselves free during the weekends during college and work.
