The boys are back in business after a long hiatus; four years to be precise. We are talking about the American Boy Band "Backstreet Boys" consisting of Brian, Kevin, Howie, AJ and Nick. This was the band that sent many a hearts swooning to bubblegum pop numbers like, "Quit Playing Games", "Shape Of My Heart" and "More Than That" amidst stiff competition from N'SYNC, Boyzone, and others …

The famous boy Band from the 1990's, Backstreet Boys, have recently released their new album Never Gone with a brand new single, Incomplete. One would expect that after a break they would come up with something more upbeat and less sappy. One would also expect that they would finally stop being sappy romantic doormats and serenade the women not by telling them that they could be their only hope in shining armour, but by showing them what they are worth, for a change.

They do deserve some credit on their comeback but the talented lot of men can do better than just being and singing "Incomplete"; a song that has been ruling the Indian charts and stands Number ONE in most music stores. There is something about the song that is, well, "Incomplete", a little chaotic and very unsettling. Why are they so whiney and sad about making a comeback??

Regardless of all the adulation, the boys, sorry, MEN have received for their first track "Incomplete"; they would have benefited from putting forth a more upbeat, in your face, feel good and simple tracks like "Never Gone" or "Forces Of Nature", both of which are pleasant and melodious, and have a positive outlook towards their comeback. One would want to see a "Jhakaas" album which would write off the critics who had written them off for good and are continuing to do so.

NEVER GONE features songs like, Incomplete, Just Want You To Know, Crawling Back To You, Weird World, I Still..., Poster Girl, Lose It All, Climbing The Walls, My Beautiful Woman, Safest Place To Hide, Siberia, and Never Gone.

The songs in the album are quite mature even though traces of the 'then' boys still remain as they move on from bubble gum pop to pop-rock… their new album is suggestive of their previous songs back when they were boys. All said and done, the album "Never Gone" in totality is pleasant and melodious, yet there is nothing exceptional about it because substitutes are available.
